“Eat a frog” was Mike’s suggestion on doing something new to try this May. I’m relatively adventurous with food, I’d try anything once but with reason. I do have a certain affinity with animals so I try to stay away from the unusual meat -no kambing, no rabbits, and certainly no dogs!
I still wanted to try something new though, so off I went hunting for where I can eat frogs. I then ended up at Krokodile Grille apparently, its the place to go for exotic food. Unfortunately though (or fortunately?) that night, they ran out of frogs
So I tried whatever was on the menu, and it was Ostrich Salpicao and Balot Surprise for me (no, I have not never eaten the chick of a balut). Anyways, how bad can it be?
First came the Ostrich Salpicao, it looked decent enough. It did have that rubbery texture but it tasted fairly okay.
But the Balot Surprise… was literally a surprise!
I almost ran away when I saw this
I had no choice but to suck it up and stick to my guns… so how was it? It may have been my imagination but I couldn’t help but think those crunchy things were the beak and feet of the poor little duck.
So someone asked me, will I do it again?
And my reply was… thanks but…no thanks
